 Starożytny Egipt fascynował i inspirował już współczesne sobie antyczne cywilizacje śródziemnomorskie. Wpływ dziedzictwa egipskiego odnajdujemy we wszystkich okresach rozwoju nowożytnej Europy, później także Nowego Świata. Osobom, które nieprzypadkowo odwiedziły tę stronę (a takich zapewne jest większość) oszczędzę prób ogólnych definicji i objaśnień; "egiptomania" była i jest zjawiskiem wymykającym się niejednokrotnie wyrazistemu opisowi. Od 1800 roku rozwijała się obok, a często "w poprzek" naukowej egiptologii. Strona poświęcona jest polskim objawom zjawiska nazywanego na świecie "egiptomanią" - albo "Egyptian revival". Nie jest wyczerpującą, chronologiczno-tematyczną monografią; forma krótkich notatek opisuje wybrane zagadnienia, pozwalając jednocześnie na stały rozrost strony.  Ancient Egypt has already fascinated and inspired the other ancient mediterranean civilisations. So, we find various kinds of Egyptian influences in all periods of European culture, and in the New World as well. The majority of visitors here, I guess, are not accidental; so I do not explain the idea of "Egyptomania". This is very difficult, moreover. Since 1800 some aspects of Egyptomania existed paralelly to professional egyptology and egyptological knowledge, but "upstream" sometimes. This site focuses on various aspects of Egyptomania in Polish art and literature, architecture, design, etc. This is not a comprehensive or complete exposition of this subject; short essays or remarks concern on singular problems and questions.
